Who will have access to natural resources in 20 years?

Food aid also encourages life, oh we should just say " Let'em starve !"
Easy to say where your sitting Mr Lucky Canucky.

Aid should only be in the form of GENERAL education, I think. That way instead of just eliminating overpopulation, we could help eliminate poverty, crime, religious fundamentalism, terrorism, and we could kick-start generations of rational thinking, scientific and literate minds.
The whole world would be developed within several generations, I believe. I truly think education is the key to humanity.

Why not 'male education'? It takes two to tango..

The earth has reached an unsustainable population.
The odds are that this will soon be corrected in a particularly horrific way
with the advent of a war for scarce resources and/or the rise of a global epidemic of some new virus or bacteria which will kill untold numbers of people.
The most frightening thing is that the current population distribution is such that there are relatively few young people for all the old ones.
Should societies lose too many of their young people, things could get even uglier than they were in the past during pandemics and wars.
Unfortunately, it's not really a question of whether or not this will happen. It's just a question of when. .

Actually, there are many more young people than old people. It's only in western nations that the population growth has slowed enough to make the old to young ration so high. In the developing world (where most of the population growth happens) the median age is around 15.
But ultimately you're right, eventually some catastrophic event will drastically reduce the population..
